Stop Talking Already!

We only give our home number to family and some friends, and they only call at night. So we chose to ignore most calls in the morning and afternoon since they are 99% from telemarketeers of all sorts.

But the phone has been ringing off the hook these days. The interval between calls is getting shorter. It got on my nerves so much that I answered the call earlier.

An indian lady answered. And before I could say anything, she just keeps talking and talking and talking. Obviously was reading from a script. She say we have been selected for some discounts for international calls. I told her I am not interested and we don't make alot of overseas call. She did not even acknowledge this and started on her script again. ("You are pissing me off" stage)

I used the "i am pissed off tone" and told her to stop. Asked her a few questions which she could not answer. ("This is getting too much" stage) And she started rambling on and on again. I asked her to stop and she did long enough to listen to my question, and started on her script again. ("Continue and I will slam the phone" stage) Then she reached the end and asked if I had the authorization to let her company proceed with some discount charges on overseas call. I said no, because the account is in my husband's name. She was stunned I guess. Because this was the only time she paused for 5 seconds before asking what time she can call back to speak to Mr Ong.

I randomly gave her a time. ("That's it. You do not deserve more of my time" stage) I know even if I did not give a time, the phone will continue to ring for the next few days. So I will leave this mess to Mr Ong to settle when he is back later.

I seriously doubt this discount thingy. We did not get any notification from our phone provider, T even though she said her company is on contract with T to offer these discounts. I searched T's website..no mention of this company too. I will devise some questions with hubby later to tackle her. Ask and ask until the plot falls apart. Haha. Wise plan.

PS: No offence on nationality here. It's the service attitude of these telemarketeers that really irritates me!

First Real Cake

Baked an authentic butter cake yesterday. Not from instant cake mix ok. Followed an online recipe step-by-step. Now I know why butter cake tastes so nice. Because it is BUTTER cake and contains 1 entire block of butter just to make a 20cm cake.

But need to get an electric mixer if I am serious about cake baking. Arms got a very good work-out after all that stirring. Hee...

Premonition? Reject that!

I had a horrible dream last night.

I was in the exam hall. Was totally dis-organised.
Cannot find answer script, cannot find question paper.
And invigilator say no more extra question paper.
When I finally got the question paper, the questions look so foreign to me!
Dunno how to do!

EEEKs! The exam paranoia must be getting to me.

This scenario better not come true on 18th June. I reject that!
And I will make sure I prepare well well for the exam to prevent it. Argh.....

Those Goondoo Days were the Best

They're tearing down the National Stadium soon. The place that held so many dear memories and invokes so many more...

During Cedar days, we used to go to the stadium with such pride. Because our track & field and band girls will always do us proud by winning the competitions held there. Whenever we reign as double champions in the "B" and "C" divisions of the national schools' track and fields' meet, we will sing our song, cheer our cheers, run around the stadium with those mega mega banners. That's not all, we will cheer from national stadium all the way to the kallang mrt station (and while waiting for train...).

The days of trying to break the Gusiness World record for highest pyramid built with drink cans and rumaging through dustbins along East Coast Park and coffeeshops just to collect the cans.....

The days of practicing and leading cheers at the school track before an important competition to cheer our comrades on...

The days of rushing out from classrooms (and the teachers too) when the band girls do their final outdoor band display at the track to cheer them on..

The days of staying back in school and making those gigantic banners...and eating chicken rice that our dear principal bought...

The days of sitting at the track every Wed (or issit Fri) morning after assembly and read newspaper to improve our English...

The days of running round the track every alternate day after morning assembly..it's compulsory for everyone!

The days of changing from PE attire to proper uniform in the classroom....

Just too much to go on and on...so many memories...but such a pity that most of us are not in touch anymore. I wonder what has happened to my classmates. I know some of them are happily married, in a relationship or simply enjoying their singlehood. Those days that are filled with camaraderie, high spirits and pride.

Yes, those goondoo days were the best.

Unite Cedarians unite,We’ll perservere all the way,
Make sure our torch is burning bright,Courteous, honest everyday,
Forever loyal ‘ever true,For Cedar our best we’ll do.
Excel in work and in games,Always strive for greater fame,
Hold high the banner gold an’ grey,Progress we must all the way,
Forever loyal ‘ever true,For Cedar our best we’ll do.
The future beckons us on,Full of promises beyond,
Though fears and dangers still abound,With strength and grit we’ll surmount,
Forever loyal ‘ever true,For Cedar our best we’ll do.

Chorus:To Cedar Girls’ School we belong,
With pride and love let’s sing this song,
Let us unite and together vow,
To dedicate our loyalty now.

Mum and I

Brother found an old photo of me and mum. Gosh. Why my mum's face change so little over the years one?? And I so big girl already! Hope I will inherit those genes! Hahaha...

and the shutters were down, for the last time

today was my last day at work.
it passed so serenely. not much stuff to do...and i even had time to
read a book. colleagues were nice..and they're giving me a farewell lunch on sunday. and i only knew them for less than 2 months?
i was abit sad to leave them..if not for the boss and dubious practices, i
would gladly have stayed on.

a new phase awaits me...and with much things to learn, i have to get
up to gear as soon as possible. but with Papa's help, i know i can do it.

Dark So Soon!

It's 5.30pm now. 3.30pm in Singapore.
And it's all dark now. Like normal 8pm back home.
Sigh....short days are here to stay for another 6 months!

Curly No More

Went for my first hair snip here in Brisbane. Left a $33 dent in my pocket.
And no more curly hair! And no more "dry like grass" ends. After I permed my hair, the ends were dry..and with the colour..practically looked like dry grass..to look and to touch. Now sporting a lighter, shorter look. Refreshing!
I still like permed hair...maybe I'll still have a go at it when I back next year. For now..it's time for my precious hair to breathe........
