Stop Talking Already!

We only give our home number to family and some friends, and they only call at night. So we chose to ignore most calls in the morning and afternoon since they are 99% from telemarketeers of all sorts.

But the phone has been ringing off the hook these days. The interval between calls is getting shorter. It got on my nerves so much that I answered the call earlier.

An indian lady answered. And before I could say anything, she just keeps talking and talking and talking. Obviously was reading from a script. She say we have been selected for some discounts for international calls. I told her I am not interested and we don't make alot of overseas call. She did not even acknowledge this and started on her script again. ("You are pissing me off" stage)

I used the "i am pissed off tone" and told her to stop. Asked her a few questions which she could not answer. ("This is getting too much" stage) And she started rambling on and on again. I asked her to stop and she did long enough to listen to my question, and started on her script again. ("Continue and I will slam the phone" stage) Then she reached the end and asked if I had the authorization to let her company proceed with some discount charges on overseas call. I said no, because the account is in my husband's name. She was stunned I guess. Because this was the only time she paused for 5 seconds before asking what time she can call back to speak to Mr Ong.

I randomly gave her a time. ("That's it. You do not deserve more of my time" stage) I know even if I did not give a time, the phone will continue to ring for the next few days. So I will leave this mess to Mr Ong to settle when he is back later.

I seriously doubt this discount thingy. We did not get any notification from our phone provider, T even though she said her company is on contract with T to offer these discounts. I searched T's website..no mention of this company too. I will devise some questions with hubby later to tackle her. Ask and ask until the plot falls apart. Haha. Wise plan.

PS: No offence on nationality here. It's the service attitude of these telemarketeers that really irritates me!
