Step 1
Go school and get the student ID. The passport to half-price tickets on all public transport and concession rates for movies, entrance fees etc.

Step 2
Walk around your school with a map (yes, need a map because the uni is not small lor) and take photos and start imagining your student life.

The only building with flags. Guess this is the "main door" Posted by Picasa

The central place of UQ is this big green patch where students and teachers just sit, talk, eat, even catch a nap. The various schools surround this little "park" Posted by Picasa

I'll be walking along these soon.... Posted by Picasa

The biggest library on UQ - belongs to my faculty Posted by Picasa

This seeming lok kok building is my faculty - School of Social and Behavorial Sciences (SBS) Posted by Picasa

Step 3

Step 4
Go catch a movie on concession rates. No photo here. Too exicted that I lost the tickets. Well...there will be plenty of others. Ticket costs only $5 bucks for students. Heee

Zap! I've been Simpson-ated

The Simpsons is King here.
It's on TV everyday at 6pm + extra episodes on Tue and Thurs nights at 8.30pm.

And the crazy thing is.....
I automatically switch to Channel 10 at 6pm everyday. And I enjoy it.

Great. I've been Simpsonated in less than 2 weeks.

Milo Monster

Beware of the Milo Monster.
She's back to her daily feeding routine.

Ahh......favourite drink. Yum! Posted by Picasa

Walk in the Park

Hubby brought me out for a walk just now. Think my withdrawal syndrome must be getting to him. Haha.

Well, the fresh air and cold winds did sober me up a little. I'm beginning to talk more now.

I enjoyed the walk...hey, there are several parks just within walking distance. When weather's better, can have picnics there liao. Ah...so nice...to sit under a tree with juice and a good story book.

Nice park....but toes freezing. Stoopid me wore slippers out right in winter.  Posted by Picasa

Saw this little old Volkswagen outside the park. I like leh.....so retro! Posted by Picasa

Random Thoughts

Socceroos are out of the world cup - because of a ridiculous wrong penalty decision by the referee. Well, they fought a good 93 min battle against the Italians.

迷路兵 is out! Sigh...any team can win....except Lucify! Don't like the "darkness" nature of their image.

I'm having withdrawal syndromes for the last 2 days.
First sign - Speak less than 500 words all day.
Second sign - Sit infront of TV / laptop all day.
Third sign - Slept till late late morning and refuse to get up or get out of the house.

I'm a person who don't like changes. I've tried to make the changes seemed exciting. But after 1 week, I guess the novelties wore off. Though Hubby is with me now and we have our own place and starting a new season in life, I'm still holding on to the nitti-gritties of Singaporean life. Gosh....only now then it hit me that I had become so attached to home. The gahmen did well to mould me into a typical citizen who is happy with a comfortable job, house and surroundings. I must break free!

Good Day Mate!

Weather today is good.
Went out in my bermudas and slippers today. All was good until the bitter winter winds started to blow and my legs shivered like jelly. But it was a brave start. I'll do better next time.

I enjoy shopping for little things. I enjoy being greeted "How are you today" everytime I pay for the little things at the check-out.

I enjoy going online and read about things that I never had the time to do after I started working.

I enjoy cracking my brains and think what I can cook for dinner. Tonight's menu will include stir-fried chai sim, potatoes and sweet and sour chicken. Hubby's busy preparing for his final exam tomorrow. I have the entire day to myself. Yippee!

Australia's through to the second round of the world cup. They drew with Croatia this morning: 2-2. More crappy advertisements supporting the "socceroos" will be bombarding the TV channels soon.

Home At Lissner

Finally!!

We spent the last few days shopping (and shopping and shopping), unpacking, packing, nailing and hammering furniture and finally we can share the fruits of our labour. Our newly set-up home at Lissner Grove Apartments

It's big enough to welcome some visitors! And cosy enough! Heee...

Finally Here

my flight Posted by Picasa

I'm finally here. It's cold. Brr......
Everyday I'm wrapped up in my Eeyore sweater boss bought for me, track pants and bedroom slippers. Can't bear to let me feet just touch the bare tiles. I'm afraid they'll just freeze and get stuck there.

I cried on the plane. Thanks to you lor Froggies. I looked through the scrapbook you all did for me and it brought back much memories. Then I cried at the airport upon seeing Hubby.

The place we call home now is just a stone's throw away from the train, ferry and big shopping mall. Thank God for such a nice and assessible place. Quite alot of asians around here. So at least don't feel so lonely. I followed some chinese (or korean) uncles while I was shopping yesterday and discovered a place that sells cheap chinese vegetables. Finally, no more carrots and potatoes. Can eat some chai sim and kai lan and cabbage.

IKEA delivered their stuff today. Telstra(Australia's "Singtel") set up out internet today. So the house is getting more and more like a home. And yes, what's a home without abit of squabbling at where to put the furniture? Heez...

Every little thing that I managed to stuff into my luggage reminds me of home. My NTUC fairprice facial cotton, my Kleenex tissue packs, my Prima-Deli hainan chicken rice mix, listening to mediacorp radio online...

Shucks! I do miss home!

Small Tomato, Big Potato

This as just 1 of the games we played...at the surprise farewell party the froggies threw for me.

Felt like we were having cell group all over again. Of course, there were "special guests" Bee Ling and Debbie.

Thanks, girls and paul, for the simple yet memorable little gathering. It was just what I wanted, only be with you all. Nothing too elaborate. You all like so grown up now..coz now you can yak about your own little ones. Hee...

Thanks for all your sharing. I thank God, that I was able to be used by Him to play a little part in your lives. 6 years! The journey wasn't easy. There were times that I really wanted out, especially when my kakis in the cluster went on to do different things in their lives. But each one of you made me stayed on, because of the bond and friendship that we shared.

I learnt something from each of you. Seeing you all commiting yourselves to the youth ministry and serving in your own way, is God's way of telling me that all the sowing fell on good, fertile ground, and now you are the fruits, growing into a strong sturdy plant and soon, to bear fruits of your own. You are now big Potatoes..no longer small Tomatoes. Remember that ok?

Super "Toilet Make-Up" Star

Place: Bugis Junction, B1 Toilet

Sighting: 2 girls standing infront of the mirrors, oblivious to the looks of the other women and putting on their full range of make-up.

No. 1 was just finishing putting on the mascara and was working on her eyebrows (Question - isn't the eye brows supposed to come first??)

No. 2 was just touching up using face powder. She looked at No. 1 and not to be outdone, whipped out her blusher and started giving her cheeks a tinge of pink. While No. 2 was still delicately drawing the balanced lines above her eyes, No. 2 started on her eye-shadows. (Now I am confused...this girl works her way from bottoms up! Not the conventional method for sure).

No. 1 finished her eyebrows and put on the final touches on her lips. No. 2 whipped out an eye-lash curler and started curling her lashes.

Wala! 2 "beautiful" ladies then stepped out the toilet in confidence, each thinking that they have beaten the other in the Super Toilet "Make-up" Star contest.

The most I did in toilets was to put own my trusty compact powder and lip gloss. Alas! Women! All in beauty's name.

Sinful Day

Today marks the start of my sinful journey for the next 10 days:

First, 1 group brought me to jap restaurant for lunch.

Then, another group took me for dinner which consists of 2 crabs (cooked in butter and chilli styles), cereal prawns, 油条, sambal kangkong, baby squids and 馒头. Seemed little? Gosh...was too full to move after the dinner. The coffee shop we went to serves quite good tze char. It's somewhere in Serangoon Ave 4..don't ask me how to go though. We took cab to and fro.

This decadent lifestyle will persist till next Mon..I'll then have 3 days to go on diet before boarding flight SQ255. Or else hubby will probably not recognise me at the airport. Hee...

Guppy Sashimi

Another member of the family died.

Only left 4 in the tank now.

HY say they must be ending their lives deliberately..coz with me around, at least they will not end up as guppy sashimi for Gucci when they die. So we shall see how many of them are still alive by next Thurs when I hand them over to JC.

Big Red Plastic Bags

I must have looked so auntie-ish today.

Was at NTUC and was trying to figure out which brand of curry mix I should buy (yeah, I'm stocking up for singapore food drought when I arrive in OZ in another 2 weeks time). Another auntie came up to me and asked if the packet I was holding in my hand was a "good packet of curry mix". I've never used any kind of such instant mixes before, but I still answered intelligently and said it should be (because it's from a known brand), and it's ON OFFER. $0.82 for a packet.

On the bus, I struggled with 1 big red plastic bag and 2 NTUC plastic bags. Another auntie asked me. "Buy so many packets of tissue, give people ah?" I answered nonchalently "No, for my own use". The auntie gave me a look of disbelieve.

Last night, I already struggled with another 2 big red plastic bags. Coz I had a really good buy at a factory outlet store at TPY. 2 GAP jackets for $40 bucks! And very decent looking as well. They were comparable to the $89.90 ones I saw at John Little, and at 1/4 of that price!

I hope that's the end of my big red plastic bag adventures. I've finished most of my stocking up. Left some little shopping to do here and there.
